Sip Virginia Craft Beers at the Tides

 by Brian McDonough, Restaurant Manager

It's Virginia Craft Beer Month and we've made it easy for you to taste some of the state's best by stocking two brews in guest minibars:

Williamsburg Alewerks is our most popular craft beer, made just up the road. This American-style wheat ale is slightly cloudy in appearance and more hoppy than most wheat ales, giving it a pleasantly bitter flavor. The hoppiness of this beer makes it a sure bet with cheese, and the citrus notes make it a great match for salads with citrus vinaigrette, fish, or even a citrus dessert like our Key Lime pie.

Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager is a beautiful chestnut color, not the usual blonde one expects in a lager. It's malty with a kiss of sweet caramel and plays well with many types of food, especially our Shrimp and Grits with spicy Andouille sausage.

Available at the bar is Starr Hill Northern Lights IPA, a full-flavored, hoppy, slightly bitter brew with citrus notes and a floral nose. It pairs well with many of the same foods as the Alewerks. I suggest trying it with the creamy Burrata from our Terrace Lounge menu.
