The Chesapeake Club Restaurant
The Chesapeake Club is the Tides Inn's signature restaurant.
The Tides Inn Chesapeake Club is lined with walnut patina
lockers celebrating the heritage and prohibition days of the past.
In the early days of the resort the county was dry and guests would
bring their own beverages and rent a locker during their stay, the
rental fee was a club membership and the resort operated as a
private club to allow a martini après midi or champagne cocktails
on the lawn and wine with dinner. Those guests who did not bring
their drinks would be ferried on the resorts private yacht across
the river to Urbanna which was in a "wet" county and bring back
alcohol for their stay, this weekly trip soon became a highlight of
the social scene and was named 'The Whiskey Run" The lockers are
now used for team building memory games and create a rich and
colorful backdrop to the restaurant and bar.
