VIRGINIA WINE AT THE TIDES INN
TIDES HONORED BY WINE SPECTATOR
It’s not just the Tides' distinctive location, where the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail and the Virginia Oyster Trail meet, that makes culinary program so great -- it’s also the quality of the Tides-to-Table cuisine prepared by executive chef TV Flynn, and the beautifully curated wine list by our Sommelier, Samir Dhir, at the Chesapeake Club.
Our wine list was recently honored with the Award of Excellence 2016 by Wine Spectator, a designation assigned to the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world. What makes this designation particularly noteworthy is that 42 of the wines on our wine list are from Virginia – exemplifying our support of the local vineyards of the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail.
What does it take to be included in our Chesapeake Club award-winning wine list? Well, here are just a few highlights from our carefully curated menu.
LINDEN WINES, HARDSCRABBLE CHARDONNAY, 2009. Characterized with a focused and persistent palate, this Chardonnay has an apricot richness and a sappy green apple finish as well as aromas of crystalized ginger, kiwi, stone dust, lime zest and honeysuckle. This Virginia winery located on the top of the Blue Ridge calls the 2009 growing season “uncommonly lucky” because of an amazingly dry stretch during their harvests on September 21, 22 and October 5, 2009. The vineyard was spared by rain, making this Chardonnay, peaking now, a perfect addition to Chesapeake Club’s award-winning list.
