Tides 75th Anniversary Celebration
On July 15, the Tides Inn celebrates its 75th Anniversary and is honored to have touched so many lives with lasting memories since 1947. One tradition the resort will resurrect this summer is the Whiskey Run. When the Tides Inn opened, Lancaster County was a dry county, and guests would bring their own liquor to enjoy. If guests showed up empty-handed, they embarked on a boat ride, called a Whiskey Run – aboard the 127-foot Miss Ann – to purchase whiskey and return to the Tides Inn where they were invited to store their whiskey in a liquor locker. These handcrafted wooden lockers continue to adorn the walls of our Chesapeake Restaurant. As a nod to our past, on Saturday, July 16, we invite our overnight resort guests to participate in a Whiskey Run across the Rappahannock River to ‘find some whiskey’ before returning to the Tides Inn for dinner. As the historic Miss Ann is no longer part of the Tides Inn fleet, guests participating in this summer’s Whiskey Run will embark on the trip to Urbanna aboard a 38-foot custom charter.
Please Note: While the historic Miss Ann is pictured below, guests participating in this summer’s Whiskey Run will embark on the trip to Urbanna aboard a 38-foot custom charter.
