Holiday Happenings at the Tides Inn

Excitement is in the air, and anticipation builds as the daylight hours dwindle and sweater weather is upon us. With the festive season fast approaching, it’s likely you’re looking forward to spending time with your loved ones as you enjoy delectable meals and delicious drinks. That being said, you may not be thrilled about the idea of planning holiday events, preparing the perfect meal and dealing with the decorations. Luckily, we’re here to help and we invite you to enjoy a stress-free holiday season in the Chesapeake Bay region.
Throughout the entire festive season, the Tides Inn culinary team will be whipping up scrumptious meals that are sure to satiate. On Thanksgiving, bookend your day with a brunch buffet in the morning and a multi-course meal at night. You may also join us for a four-course Christmas Dinner, then wake up to presents in the morning accompanied by a decadent brunch. Or perhaps you would prefer to ring in the new year with an elegant meal and Champagne toast at midnight.
For an even more elevated experience along the shores of Carter’s Creek, you and your five favorite people may enjoy an alfresco, stargazing supper experience under our Great Cedar Tree. We offer two dining domes, also known as “Chesapeake Bay Bubbles,” in partnership with the prominent Champagne house, Moët Chandon. Each bubble is complete with a heater, furniture, branded Moët blankets and pillows, and of course, a complimentary glass of Champagne.
If you’re searching for holiday events, look no further than the Northern Neck region of Virginia. Our Maker Space is brimming with holiday workshops led by our resident artist, including painting cards with watercolors, creating ornaments out of oyster shells and making wreaths from items collected around the resort.
On our waterfront, you may also join our resident ecologist on our Merry Mollusks experience, where you will learn about a keystone species, the oyster, contribute to our shoreline restoration efforts and enjoy fresh oysters prepared to perfection over an open fire.
For those who prefer to venture further afield, nearby towns such as Irvington, Kilmarnock and Urbanna offer an abundance of local events. There’s something to experience every weekend in November – from festivities like the Fall Oyster Crawl and Taste by the Bay to the Turkey Trot and Countdown to Christmas. In December, you may pay a visit to Santa’s Village in Kilmarnock, catch a ride on the Polar Express or simply watch the dazzling lights float by in the Christmas Parade. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg of the holiday happenings available to you.
